To abolish the savanna-your annual Valentine program, State Representative Tony McCombi, R-Charna, gave hundreds of Valentine’s Day card veterans.
McCombi launched his “Valentine’s for Wates” program last month and obtained countless cards made by students, local groups and area residents, then to distribute to veterans on 14 February.
McCombi visited Big Meadows, Stockton’s Elore, Midwest Nursing Home and VFW Post at Savanna, Lanark, Galina and Stockton. McCombi met VFW Commander Ryan Bartel to hand over a special dozen cards in Stockton, which will be sent to the legends. The remaining valentine will be sent to veterans to Quincy, Monteno and Lasel.
“This year I instructed the veterans in my community to program as they gave a lot to serve and protect us, they are worth some additional love today,” said McCombi. “Valentine’s Day Card Program has created a lot of support in our district, and I am proud to continue to spread that love today.”
Last year, Valentine’s Day Card Drive of McCombi collected 450 cards, and this year’s program crossed it – 1,200 collected and distributed. McCombi thanked everyone, who contributed a card to the program, which he will continue hosting next year.
Cards were collected in McCombi’s office from 8 January to 7 February. The residents were asked to leave or mail their cards to McCombi’s district office in Savannah.
