Corvallis, Ore. -UCLA female basketball team hit the go-forward shots twice in the last seven seconds on Friday night-and still lost one of the wilder finish in any college game in this season, to men or women.
Talia von Olehophen made a 3-pointer from the top of the key in Bazar, raising the number 11 Oregon state to win 79–77 on UCLA in ninth place.
After a review of an officer, the basket was counted and beaver (21-3, 10-3 PAC-12) won its sixth direct win.
On the final possession of the game, von Olhofen said the UCLA focused on its defense at Timia Gardiner, who shot 3 for 4 from the 3-point range.
“I felt that they were going to help him and I was going to be open on the pop,” said Vauan Olehophen. “I was just ready for this. I just had that paste so I was a little confident and shot it well in that second half.”
Von Olhofen scored 18 out of 22 points in the second half, including all four 3-pointers. He also made a driving paste with two seconds to keep the beaver ahead 76-75.
Oregon State held rallies below seven points in the last three minutes. Von Olhofen showed 6-for-6 in the foul line on 6-for-12 shooting from the ground, and Gardiner scored a career-hai 21 points.
Lauren Bates scored a career-high 24 points on 11-for-15 shooting to lead the UCLA (19-5, 8-5).
Bruins won the game, when Bates joined the 15-foot jumper, survived for a 77–76 lead with 1.1 seconds. Bates saved the ball from the free throw line and drilled the uncontested jumper.
But the state of Oregon had one last opportunity and changed. A nearby selling-out crowds in Gill Coleseum provoked a long jumper by Von Olehophen.
UCLA coach Kori Close said, “We were overcorous and thus Talia opened three with a second,” said UCLA coach Corey Close. “We have to get that stop with a second left and we were not able to do it.”
Angela Duglik made a 3-paper with 6.6 seconds to give Bruins the benefit of 75-74. In the last second, the lead changed his hands three times.
Oregon State Coach Scott Ruke said, “Who will count this team now.” “I could not only be around them. Tonight was just pure fun. It is as good as it happens tonight.”
It was a tight game nor the team led more than seven points.
The UCLA guard Kiki Rice said, “Obviously, this is a difficult disadvantage and the fact that we had an increase of three minutes to the remaining seven points and could not hold it.”
Oregon State played mostly without the sports scorer Raigan Beer. He was killed by rice with a elbow for the nose, which was intentionally called for a dishonesty in the second quarter. After spending several minutes on the floor, the beer left for the locker room and did not return. She ended with two points and a reversal.
Ruke did not have an update on beer injury, but said that Sofomore sent a postgame congratulatory lesson to the team.
“Obviously we had a lot of adverseness in the first half. Reagan goes down,” the gardener said. “From that moment we all knew that we have to take steps, and especially for Raigan.”
Without the inner appearance of beer, which came in an average game of 18.2 points and 11.1 rebounds, the state of Oregon was forced to the periphery to lead to a lot of crime. The beaver ended 11 from the 3-point range to 19.
Big picture
UCLA: Bruin, who has Marqui, won Connecticut, Ohio State, USC, Colorado and Oregan State this season, is an excellent in-combo with Bates and Karishma Osborn, which ended with 13 points.
Oregon State: Beaver, who was the last four teams in 2016, won five win over rank teams. They are a lock to return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2020-21 season. The depth is one of the major powers of Oregon state.
