Notre Dame boys basketball beats Redondo to reach Division 1 championship game – Daily News

Sherman Oaks – Notre Dame Boys Basketball Team CIF Southern Section Division 1 was visually excited after winning the Redondo Union on Friday night in the semi -finals. The ceremonies were not at the top, however, almost the same as the knights have estimated the result.

“Politely, we were hoping to be in it,” said Angelino Mark. “We compete with the best of best in open division teams, so I think we are worth living here.”

Notre Dame defeated Redondo Union 67-60 for his first appearance in the CIF-SS Championship game since 2016 to earn a place in the Division 1 Championship Game. The knights were in Division 4AA that year and Sera lost 53–50.

Mercy Miller scored 26 points for the Notre Dame (28–3), while Zach White had 18 points and Mark had 12 points. Hudson Mayis logged 26 points for the Redarko Union (24-6) and Dewin Ringer added 18 points.

Notre Dame did not mark the entireness of the game, fighting a tireless Redondo Union Half-Cort in its own way.

Miller made three 3-pointers-in the quarter near a half-court line because the knights took a 14–9 lead in the frame with 1:45. The Redarko Union was able to score on a pair before the end of time to close things at 16–15.

Amidst the pressure of the sea Hawks, Miller appeared comfortably and made shots from an array of places. His comrades removed his perseverance.

“It’s a crazy mental,” Zach White said about Miller. “He shoots every shot as he is going to make it. He is crazy confidence and he is always trying to push us, trying to make us better.”

In the second quarter, the knights on the boards were strict and were able to pass around the perimeter and pass through the paint.

Notre Dame Coach Matt Sergeant said, “We challenged them to rebel and take care of the ball.” “We had only six turnover, we left an aggressive rebound in the first half. I really, really proud of my entire team.”

Mark, who orchestrated several of these plays, came with a large block with 2:40, until the two free throw was fouled on the other side of the court after the brake was brought to 31-26.

Miller gave a no-look pass to Micah Tannanbam, which passed it to mark it for a trimming, showing the potential liquidity of the knights. Dewin Ringer made a basket with .3 seconds on the clock for 37–28 score in halftime.

“It’s just about faith,” Mark said. “We work on it during practice and we were having fun with it.”

The Redarko Union began to creep back with a quick five-point scoring in the third quarter, but Mark Lewis stopped C Hawks with a corner three for a 47–39 benefit.

The Sea Hawks dropped the notre Dame out of 16–13 in the fourth quarter, but the knight’s initial work and attitude sealed the game.

“We knew it was a 32 -minute game,” said White. “No game is going to be just 16 minutes. You play the whole game and win it.”
