A fire fighter was rushed to the hospital and a building caught fire in Boston’s Rocksbury neighborhood, when the fire was extinguished.
Officials said that the firefighter who was taken to the fire fighter suffered minor injuries.
Firefighters responded to a three-family house on Door Street on Friday evening.
Norman Fenuf says that earlier he could see smoke smoking from the heater.
“I can smell it, no alarm, then fire, fire, fire, all alarm,” he said.
The fire spread quickly. Investigators say that they can see the flames on the second floor, going to the third floor and when they arrive, the attic.
“I started opening the doors, looking for my roommate, the fire was in her room and I hit a wall of black smoke, I knew I had to get out of there quickly, no time to catch my coat.”
Fenuf says he called 911 and ran out of his apartment.
Seven residents live in three units in the building.
“I knocked on my neighbors’ doors out of there,” said Fenuf.
All the residents made it safely.
Especially on the second and third floors, the rear porch has a widespread loss to the building. The Red Cross has responded to help the displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
