Indianapolis (AP)-A new honor is awaited by Miami’s bomb Adebayo: he will be an all-star starter for the first time.
Adebayo was launched for Sunday night’s NBA all-star game as a replacement for Philadelphia’s Joel Ambid at the Eastern Conference on Saturday. EMBIID-Rigning MVP and twice the defending scoring is missing the game due to champion-knot injury.
Milwauki coach Dock River, who will lead the East team in the all-star game, selected and informed Edibayo on Saturday morning. Edibayo said the conversation was brief and direct: “He went in and was, ‘Bomb, you are starting,” he said.
“It’s going to be a dope experience,” said Edebayo. “Just really going to cherish the moment and is grateful to God and all people who support me through all the ups and downs. We have added something new to our list.”
Adebayo formed an all-star team this season as a reserve selected by coaches this season, as they did in 2020-when they also won the skills competition in the All-Star Weekend-2023. He will become the seventh player to become an all-star starter as a member of the heat since Dwian Wade in 2016.
Shakeel O’Neill, Labron James, Chris Bosh, Alonjo Moring and Anthony Mason were also all-star starters as members of the heat. Mason was an injury replacement for Grant Hill in 2001; Bosh was an injury replacement for Rajon Rondo in 2013.
“My lineup decision was easy,” the rivers said. “I saw Big Joel, what other (center) we have in the team, and the bomb got respect. It is also good for him. It is also fun, I told him in the locker room. He did not know. I did not know that he knew because I knew yesterday that I told the league yesterday that he knew he could know that he could tell that he was very happy about it.”
Adebayo-A member of the US Olympic team who won the gold in the Tokyo Games in 2021 and someone was expected to be part of the team who would seek the fifth consecutive gold medal in the Paris Olympics this summer-a member of the all-defensive team of four-bar. He has not worsened the fifth of the voting defensive player in each of the last four sessions.
Adebayo is 20.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.2 aid, 1.1 stolen and 1 block per game average this season, his seventh with The Heat and his first as captain of Miami. Any heat player has never ended a season with all those averages and only two other players are the least average of all five categories in this season-Ambid and Millvauki all-star forward gianis Antateoconampo.
