Carrie-Grove’s co-up boys swimming team finished second in Stewenson Boys Swimming and Diving Sectional Meet in Lincolnshire on Saturday and qualified nine entries for next week’s state meat.
Drew Watson proceeded in four events, while Kasparus Venloscus, Noah Breedon and Connor Chan all qualified for three programs for the state on Friday and Saturday at Westmont’s FMC Nattorium.
Stevenson won a meeting with 302 points; CG, which draws athletes from Carrie-Grove, Crystal Lake Central, Krystal Lake South and Preary Ridge, was second with 227 1/2.
Chan won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.53 and Watson won 100 backstroke in 50.11. Each event meets the top two contestants and the standards that meet those.
Watson was third in 200 individual medals in 1: 52.12, while Venloscus was fifth in 1: 55.05, fifth in 2 seconds under standard.
Wesnsloscus (57.02) was fourth and team partner Mason Galer (58.76) was fifth in 100 breaststrokes, both were qualifying on time.
Brearton finished fourth in 500 freestyle in 4: 42.06, 4 seconds faster than the standard.
Wastton, Venslauskas, Brereton and Chan 200 Medley Relay (1: 34.89) finished second. Watson, Victory Precoscowski, Breedon and Chan finished second in 400 freestyle relay (3: 09.59).
