Genoa-Kingston’s Brady Brewick takes third at IHSA state tournament – Shaw Local

Champaign – Brady Brick did not want to ruin each other on Saturday afternoon, he waited for his entire life to celebrate a moment.

Brick, a senior, bear, both of their Genoa-Kingston coaches do both coaches on the floor of the state farm center before spreading the stairs of the arena to share special moments with their family. He waited for four years and his dream finally came true. BRIC finished third in Class 1A 165-Pound Bracket in his first visit to the IHSA individual state tournament.

Lost in the festival was that the Brick became the second plate of Cogs in the history of the program, which was the first since 2010.

“It matters a lot,” Brick said. “I have been working on my butt for the last 12 years, it is finally paying.”

Brick was the highest plaster among chronic-area wrestlers.

Sycamore Senior Gable Carric (Class 2A, 215 pounds) Decalab Senior Jacob Luce (3A, 165) and Kanland’s Senior Comrany Shole (2A, 120) placed each in fifth of their respective weight classes. Caric took his final match 12–2 Major verdict, Luce won his Major verdict 11–2 and Scol won 3–2.

After losing in the semi -finals on Friday night, Brick arrived in the third place match. He on Saturday used his previous experience against Ryan Lower of Ryan Lower from Ryan Lower from last week’s section to help win his rematch.

Lower lags back 1–0 in the first period, when Lower ran away and earned a point. Brick took a 2–1 lead in the second and finally took a 4–1 lead in the third for the last 30 seconds.

Brevik said he knew that Lower was carrying shots on his right as if he was last week. Once BriC saw the same step on Saturday, he put his right leg back to win.

Although Brick wanted to become the first state champion of the program, he never doubted that he could return on Saturday and win a win.

“I knew in my heart that I was there with everyone,” Brick said. “I knew that I could beat anyone.”

Caric wanted to make his first visit to the state after getting closer to qualifying in the last two sessions. He lost his opening match, but then captured four of his next five matches and finished fifth.

“This means everything,” Karric said. “All the work that I have put in the matte room since the Kids Club, it all pays here for this moment.”

Luce came to the tournament with high expectations, hoping to come up with a title. But coach Sam Hate said that he was proud of his senior wrestling manner after losing his semi -final match on Friday night. He said that it was a great season for Luce which ended 44-4.

Luce said it was a fun weekend despite two disadvantages, and it was easy to focus in his final match.

“This was the last match of my season, it is important to me to represent my career and Decalab, so I wanted to go out on a win,” Luce said. “I was a little injured, defeated a little, but you get a way of that tune. You get rid of your loss and you wrestle your completely. You don’t want to finish your career, knowing that you can do more.”

Brick hoped that his special moment on Saturday would be something that could help inspire other young wrestlers in the Cogs’ program. After working hard on his entire wrestling career to reach that particular moment, he wants that moment not to have a time-time incident for other wrestlers.

“I really hope that I am setting a good example for everyone younger than me,” Brick said. “All my team partners in the last four years, everyone who is coming through the program. I hope they know just because they go to a small school like Jenoa who really does not care about wrestling much that they can still come and dominate.”
