The Greater Miami Jewish Federation hosted the “main program – an extraordinary night of the Jewish community” at Lovs Miami Beach on Sunday evening.
The Federation described the incident as “an important celebration of the Jewish community and solidarity with Israel.”
Rainwen “Ruvi” was the keynote speaker of Rainwen “Riwlin Sham, who served as the 10th President of Israel between 2014 and 2021.
The event also honored Jacob Solomon, president and CEO of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, who is retiring 40 years later. He received a friend of Israel Human Award.
Talking with 7news, Solomon praised the local Jewish community for his generosity and commitment.
“For one thing, I am very proud of the achievements of the Federation and our Jewish community,” he said. “We have a terrible community here, people who really care, they are deeply engaged, and they are very generous in terms of their resources, their time and their talent.”
18 people were killed in the Sunday incident after an overnight attacks in Gaza.
Solomon addressed the turmoil in the Middle East.
“I think, as a people, we are going in a challenging phase – Antisementism, war in Israel, increase in isolation – and I think Jewish unity and flexibility are more important than before,” he said.
Apart from this, the main event was Michael Herzog, Israeli Ambassador to the United States since 2021.
It has been more than 130 days since Hamas’s October 7 attack. Israeli officials said that they would never return soon.
