(CNN)-The Beeler Women’s Basketball Program retired Britney Grinner’s No. 42 Jersey at a pre-game ceremony in Foster Pavilion, Texas on Sunday.
A letterman jacket was wearing a jacket, along with running in court, was met with a loud cheers. In appearance, fans were given a yellow shirt with 42 numbers and a silhouette of the griner on the front.
After completing his collegiate career as the most decorated player in the history of the program, Grinner became the seventh player to retire his jersey in Bayler female basketball history.
She is involved in Odyssey Sims, Melissa Jones, Neena Davis, Suji Snider Apers, Shorea Lambert and Sophia Young, which only hangs her jersey number from the rafters as other female players.
During the Grinian’s Collegiate Career with Beers from 2009 to 2013, he helped lead the program for 135–15 records, including a 40–0 record in the 2011-2012 season and a national championship title.
According to Bayers, Grinner led Beers to two last four shows and six Big 12 conference championships.
Grinner completed his collegiate career with 3,283 points and 1,305 rebounds, while two-time consensus was named national player and the All-Big 12 First team and all-defensive team were honored four times.
He left Baylor as the leader of Big 12, with points (3,283), field goals (1,247), and blocks (748). She still holds NCAA record for blocks in a season (223) and career.
After his career at Biler, there was the number 1 pick in the 2013 WNBA draft by Grinner Phoenix Merkari, where he was a nine-time all-star selection, and in 2014 led the franchise for a WNBA title. She has also won two Olympic gold medals as part of the team of the team of USA as part of the women’s basketball roster.
Away from the court, Grinner was detained in Russia in February 2022 and Russian officials were sentenced to nine years on drug smuggling charges after canbis oil were found in his belongings.
Although the US State Department wrongly detained him, he spent about 300 days in a Russian Penal Colony before his release in a prisoner swap in December 2022, including Russian weapon dealer Victor Bout.
