A person who died of a fire fighter in two police officers and a Wooden Miniapolis-field neighborhood was not allowed to hold guns legally and was entangled in a one-year dispute over the custody and financial support of his three oldest children, court records show.
Officials identified 38 -year -old Shannon Gooden on Monday, as police were set on fire in the rich suburb of Bersville after replying to the domestic mess call early Sunday. The caller said that he had stopped himself in his house with family members, which included seven children aged 2 to 15 years. He was found dead hours later.
His deadlock with the police came two days before the hearing of a scheduled district court over the ongoing legal disputes with the mother of his three oldest children. Online court records suggest that those children spent most of the nights with him, but he still wanted to return to court. The records do not say why.
Robert Manson, a lawyer representing Gooden in a custody controversy, did not return a telephone message demanding a comment.
The court record also showed that the state stopped Gudan from keeping guns, for a second degree attack with a dangerous weapon after being convicted at the age of 22 in 2008. The prosecutors said they threw the rocks and pulled a knife on a man in a burningville shopping mall parking.
Authorities have not provided details about Sunday’s call to Gudeen’s house, and it is not clear how he died. But the court records show that he takes care of seven children – three oldest by a woman, two and the other with the other and two children from the previous relationship of women. When he filed a petition in a court unsuccessfully to restore his gun rights in 2020, he and his lawyer said he had matured and regretted his previous poor decisions.
“He is a good man for his peers and his family,” a long -time friend wrote to the judge in August 2020. “He personally directed me and many others through some very difficult times through his heart mercy.”
But the court records show that their disputes over the upbringing of their oldest three children became increasingly controversial. He accused his mother of neglect and called her “controlled” and accused her of abusing her and children.
The prosecutors opposed their efforts to restore their right to keep the gun, citing their description of their crime and cited traffic violations, saying they said that they had shown disregard for the law.
Superintendent of Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Crafts, Drew Evans, said that the authorities set fire to “spent a lot of time” Gudeen. He killed the authorities both Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Rouge 27 and Adam Finsith, 40, a fire fighter and paramedic, which were assigned to the city’s SWAT team.
SGT. Adam Medalikot was shot and injured and later released from a hospital, the city said.
Gudeen completed a five -year probation service in 2013 for the 2007 attack allegation. When he convicted, the prosecutors abandoned the allegations of terrorist threats and criminal damage to the property, shown court records.
The prosecutors said the change in 2007 began when they argued with a young woman inside the mall, who accused her of harassment. The prosecutors said that he took the woman and her cousin in her car and threatened to kill her tires.
The woman’s brother approached Gudeen and both snatched their shirts to fight. The prosecutors said that Gudeen participated with a knife with a knife, but a security guard canceled him, so Gudeen threw rocks at his brother before going away in his own vehicle.
Gudeen said in a swearing -in: “I am very sorry and learned from the poor decisions of my past. I would like to give myself a second chance to prove myself as a productive member of the society. ,
The court records show that Gooden also failed to fail from an order of 2017, for which she needed her three oldest children to pay $ 600 per month in support of the child, as well as $ 240 per month for her medical expenses.
The judge ordered a hearing and appointed a temporary guardian to take care of the interests of two boys and a girl. The boys are now 12 and 15 years old and the girl is 14 years old. The Guardian expressed concern about the allegations of misconduct against Gudeen, the mental health of the children’s mother, and the children saw physical changes between their parents and other adults.
The detention issues were fixed in mid-2022, but the parents batted on schooling. Ramese County Judge Thomas Giligan Junior eventually stated that the three children would spend 260 nights a year with Gooden, and their mother would pay them the child’s support.
In early 2023, Giligan wrote “There are very few evidence of cooperation between parties.”
